Mission
Statement:
The primary purpose of the SE Regional Train Center is to promote
railroading and model railroading in the Southeast. Individual clubs,
historic groups, vendors, manufacturers and associations are encouraged
to collectively promote their own organizations or products and
to participate in regional events.
A secondary purpose of the SE Regional Train Center is to fill any
voids that exist in the region related to model railroading. Currently,
it facilitates a private, large scale club aimed at model train
scales larger than HO, toy trains and historic layouts. The Center
has the largest public American Flyer hi-rail layout in the southeast
and the largest Lionel 3-rail layout in Tennessee.
Other layouts include the historic Allison East Tennessee &
Western North Carolina Tweetsie HO layout, a large American Flyer
panel layout and Land Before Time, a unique and whimsical On30 layout.
The Center has been instrumental in forming the Blue Ridge S Scalers
for S scale prototypical modelers, the Tennessee S Gaugers for modular
S Hi-Rail modelers and the Friends of the Tweetsie to support the
railroad operation at Doe River Gorge Camp and Johnson City's short
line, the East Tennessee Railway.
Recently, the Center started to manufacture a line of welded aluminum
modules to assist modelers in all scales to build layouts. This
product line will be expanded into other areas such as electronics
and a lift bridge offering items that are not available in the current
market.
